Buying tickets and rescheduling

Where to buy Van Gogh Museum tickets safely?

Buy your tickets to the Van Gogh Museum safely at tickets.vangoghmuseum.com or through our official resellers Tours&Tickets , GetYourGuide , Tiqets , Musement and Klook . Other platforms may offer fraudulent tickets.

Is it possible to buy tickets at the door?

No, that is not possible. All tickets are available online via tickets.vangoghmuseum.com or via our official resellers: Tours&Tickets , GetYourGuide , Tiqets , Musement and Klook . Other platforms may offer fraudulent tickets.

Do I have to book tickets online, even when I have a Museumkaart, ICOM Card or other discount card?

Yes, for all visitors it is required to book a ticket with start time in advance. You can purchase your tickets via tickets.vangoghmuseum.com . Only a ticket with start time ensures access to the museum.

If you are a card holder of for example Museumkaart, ICOM Card, Stadspas, or Rembrandtkaart, you also need to book a ticket online.

Can I reschedule, change or cancel my ticket(s)?

Up to 48 hours before the date and time of your planned visit, we will be pleased to help you find an alternative time to visit. We will only be able to offer you a new ticket if a different date and time slot is available.

Please note: don’t try to rebook for another date yourself, as this may stop other people from being able to visit the museum. Please contact us by using the contact form .

Tickets cannot be refunded.

Tickets are sold out for my preferred day/start time. Is there a waiting list, in case someone else cancels their visit?

No, there's no waiting list. In case someone cancels, their tickets become available again in the booking system. There is no point in coming to the museum if you see your preferred date/time is sold out online. It is not possible to purchase tickets at the door.

Do I need a separate ticket for exhibitions?

No. A valid entrance ticket lets you visit the entire museum, because we want to give all visitors the opportunity to also view the masterpieces in our permanent collection.

The only exception is the Anselm Kiefer exhibition which runs until 9 June 2025 in both the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. For this exhibition, two types of tickets are available:

A combination ticket: this ticket grants access to the permanent collections at both museums and the exhibition at both museums.

the Kiefer exhibition ticket: this ticket grants access to the exhibition at both museums and the permanent collection at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.

See visitkiefer.nl for more information, prices and availability.

Please note, the following works of the Van Gogh Museum’s permanent collection are temporarily on view in the exhibition:

I've booked a ticket and am visiting with someone else, can he/she enter at the same time?

Admission to the museum is only possible with a valid ticket. In case someone would like to join you, please check whether tickets are still available for your chosen time.
